News broke recently that Jay Z locked down a monster deal for the now former second baseman of the New York Yankees, Robinson Cano.  Instead of remaining in a Yankees uniform for the remainder of his career, Jay Z managed to earn Cano a colossal $240 million deal with the Seattle Mariners.  The deal expands over 10 years, with Cano banking $24 million each year.

Many have been suspicious of Jay Z's ability to lock down solid and intelligent deals for his players, and this massive deal for Cano has definitely boosted his status as a sports agent in the eyes of many.  On the flipside, there are people who feel as though while the money might be great, the move in itself was a horrible choice due to the Mariners low ranking amongst the rest of the MLB teams.  Some people have considered this move to be a "cop out" just for the money, and when it comes to earning bonus endorsement deals along with an actual winning chance, there is slim pickings for Cano as long as he is a part of that franchise.

Regardless, $240 million is a hard price to turn down to play the game you love, even if it means you and the team you are a part of may have to overcome some obstacles in order to gain victory.

The news of Jay Z's monster deal for Cano has become a highly talked about trending topic on Twitter, with fans and sports analysts weighing in both the positive and negative aspects of the move.  Check out Twitter's reaction to Jay Z's huge $240 million deal for Cano above.
