Calvin Klein Bacote, a notorious Brooklyn drug dealer turned author and motivational speaker, opens up about his new best-selling book, "Neighborhoods Under Siege." He explains that he wrote the book to tell his story of dealing, while adding that he's now working with groups like "Guns Down, Life Up," which reaches out to kids before they're caught up in the street life.
When asked about Brooklyn today versus the 1980s, Calvin reveals that it's gotten better in some ways, and worse in others. He adds that while he and his group were consciously being gangsters back in the day, he feels that people today are just doing things for entertainment and recognition.
Calvin also reflects on what he would say to a young person who revealed they wanted to be the next Calvin Klein of Brooklyn, saying he would just ask "why." He adds that his position is not to preach to kids about what they shouldn't do, but to rather ask them why they are making risky decisions.
