A medical examiner has ruled Eric Garner's death was because of a chokehold, ruling it a homicide.
According to the Huffington Post, the report was released on Friday. Garner's other health issues including asthma, obesity, and heart disease were listed as contributing factors.
The report also stated that pressure to Garner's chest during the chokehold killed him.
Garner's death was caught on camera after he was arrested for selling loose cigarettes on the street.
The father of six maintained his innocence while police officer Daniel Pantaleo placed him in an illegal chokehold. Pantaleo has been stripped of his badge and gun, and later placed on desk duty.
Garner's widow, Esaw told reporters that she's pleased the truth was exposed.
"Thank God the truth is finally out," Esaw Garner said. "Thank God for that."
