As the competition between female emcees becomes more and more fierce on a daily basis, Nicki Minaj continues to assert her dominance as arguably the top femcee in the game by not only continuing to best her contemporaries but also by breaking records set by legends.
With her new single "Anaconda" debuting at No. 19 on the Hot 100 entry charts, the Harajuku Barbie has surpassed Michael Jackson for the most hits in that category at 51. To be fair, the playing field has changed to favor the YMCMB first lady: Billboard now credits artists for featured appearances as well as songs where they are the lead contributor.
As lead or co-lead artist, "Anaconda" is Minaj's 20th Hot 100 hit, the rest of her credits being earned via features.
Technicalities aside, Nicki proudly acknowledged her accomplishment on Twitter. "Made history today," she said. "I didn't even know I was tied with Michael Jackson with 50 Hot 100 entries on Billboard. Anaconda makes 51 and now I'm tied with Rod Stewart. God bless, and thank you."
