Legendary singer Ben E. King, responsible for the world renowned hit "Stand By Me," died on Thursday.
King's publicist confirms that the celebrated soul singer died at his home in New Jersey due to a heart ailment. Ben E. King passed away at the age of 76.
Back in 1961 King's smash single "Stand By Me" rose to Billboard's top five, and in the '80s it would secure a resurgence in popularity as it was covered nine additional times by several other artists including John Lennon.
