A hotel restaurant in Anambra, Nigeria has been shut down for allegedly serving human meat. According to the BBC, several residents became suspicious of what the restaurant was cooking for their customers, and reported them to the police. The police then raided the restaurant, where they later discovered fresh human heads that were supposedly still bleeding, which was also in the process of being drained into a plastic bag.
In addition to the selling of the illegal meat, authorities also found numerous of automatic weapons, grenades, and cell phones. A total of ten people were apprehended in connection with the crimes. One resident had this to say about the revelation and disturbing news, "Every time I went to the market, I observed strange activities going on in the hotel. People who were never cleanly dressed and who looked a bit strange made their way in and out of the hotel, making me very suspicious of their activities. I am not surprised at the shocking revelation."
A priest who frequented the restaurant, was shocked when he once was handed a 700 Naira bill (equivalent to $3.50 USD) for food at the now-closed establishment, saying he found it was weird that he was being charged so high for a meal, considering that millions of people in Nigeria can buy a meal for somewhere in the $1 range, or even less.
He stated, "The attendant noticed my reaction and told me it was the small piece of meat I had eaten that made the bill scale that high," he said. "I did not know I had been served with human meat, and that it was that expensive."
