The death of Lionel Pickens, also known as Chinx, shattered the Hip Hop world early Sunday morning. The rapper and father of two was gunned down in Queens at 4 a.m. in Briarwood, while in a car with his friend, Cokeboy Yemen. The rapper was known for his affiliation with French Montana and the late Stack Bundles.
After finding success during his appearances on the Coke Boys and Cocaine Riot mixtapes, the rapper changed his name from Chinx Drugz to simply Chinx last summer.
In addition to supporting French Montana and Lil Durk's upcoming projects, the rapper was working on a few of his own. Just last week, Chinx posted several studio sessions to his Instagram page with one hinting about a new album.
"Young n**** in motion...try and catch em...ain't nobody gonna tell ya how to get rich n***! #cb #rrs#WelcomeToJfk the album this year"
Fellow label-mate Lil Durk sent condolences to the 31-year-old's family on Twitter as well as Action Bronson, New Orleans rapper/producer Chase N Chase, and many others.
