Tuesday (Jan. 5), Comedian Whoopi Goldberg made a strong statement regarding her nationality on The View. While discussing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump possibly winning the presidency, co-host Joy Behar joked that she would flee the country. However, Goldberg wasn't so amused. The 49-year-old stated, "You know what uh uh! This is my country. My mother, my grandmother, my great grand folks, we busted a** to be here." She said. "I'm sorry. I'm an American. I'm not an African-American, I'm not a chick American. I'm an American!" In 2014, Raven-Symone ignited social media during an interview with Oprah Winfrey over similar comments. Following Goldberg's statement, the child star complied, "I'm an American. I've been here too long to not just hold American."
