Micah Xavier Johnson, 25, has been identified as the gunman who killed five cops and shot 12 in an ambush, Thursday night [July 7]. According to ABC News, defense officials said Johnson was an Army reservist up until April 2015, where he served as a carpentry and masonry specialist.
Thursday, police Chief David Brown told the press, during negotiations Johnson stated, "he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers." Brown further said that Johnson denied being affiliated with any group, "The suspect stated that he was not affiliated with any groups and he stated that he did this alone."
