Viral child star sensation Lil Poopy signed a four-year deal with Sony Music Entertainment/Epic Records this week. The extensive signing signifies a rebound for the 13-year-old, born Luis Rivera Jr., after he lost a prospective recording contract with Jermaine Dupri, to Miss Mulato on the first series of The Rap Game earlier this year.

Lil Poopy breaks through after making a name for himself through such widely viewed music videos as "Too Much Money" and "Pop That Remix," in which he rides around in luxury cars, flashes money, and is surrounded by scantily dressed women. Poopy began his foray into rap at age 9 and quickly drew attention with raunchy visuals and songs about cocaine and guns. The content of his music has been so profane that it once provoked authorities to launch a child abuse investigation against his father. The elder Rivera would eventually find himself entangled in a case that while unrelated, came dangerously close to crossing the fine line between art and reality. He was taken into custody as a part of a federal drug raid that netted 50 associates from the 18th Street Gang, the East Side Money Gang, and the Boylston Gang, on RICO charges. He was indicted on conspiracy to distribute cocaine and cocaine base.

“When I look at other people of equal age, I can’t imagine seeing them standing on stages as he has been on so comfortably,” said manager Devon Sydney of the potential he stands on with the deal. “He likes music. He likes doing what he’s doing… His career is going to be fine as long as he wants to do it.”
