MC Ren, who began his solo career signed as a solo artist to Eazy-E's Ruthless Records had something to say on the passing of former manager Jerry Heller. When we asked his thoughts on the death of Heller, he simply said, "All I have to say is 'from God we come and to God we return.'"
MC Ren was a part of the influential gangsta rap group N.W.A with Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and DJ Yella, which popularized the use of raunchy lyrics in their rhymes to detail the violence and struggle of street life. Ren was featured in Straight Outta Compton, 100 Miles and Runnin', and Niggaz4Life. After the group disbanded in 1991, he stayed with Ruthless, putting out the Platinum selling Kizz My Black Azz, before parting ways with the label in 1999.
