It looks like legendary media giant Oprah Winfrey wants to hear a more in-depth account of singer Michel’le’s life with Dr. Dre and Suge Knight from the actual source.
Michel’le recently hinted at Oprah contacting her about the story which is documented in her new biopic “Surviving Compton” which aired on Lifetime over the weekend. “When OPRAH calls, you walk straight in her direction! Hope you all had a good start to your week, as well,” wrote Michel’le on her Instagram account. She also posted a picture of what looks like the waiting room at one of Oprah’s offices.
Michel’le’s Lifetime biopic tells a different side of the “Straight Outta Compton” story which grossed over $200 million in theaters last year. The film shows Michel’le being battered and abused by legendary hip-hop producer Dr. Dre and his former partner at Death Row Records, Suge Knight. Dre has refuted the film’s narrative and even threatened to sue Sony before it aired. It seems to have significantly harmed his reputation as fans rushed to social media to blast him for beating the singer early on in their careers after seeing the film.
Daz Dillinger, a former Death Row artist and producer, also claimed “Surviving Compton” took some liberties when portraying real-life figures and legends like 2Pac and Suge Knight. Pac is seen in the film being bossed around by yet another ruthless portrayal of the former Death Row head. Dillinger claims Pac would never have taken that from Suge. Michel'le appeared on Wendy Williams to discuss the film and claims she didn’t want to make it. However, being excluded from the blockbuster “Straight Outta Compton” made the “opportunity visible,” according to the singer.
