“Atlanta” creator Donald Glover will play Lando Calrissian in an upcoming Star Wars film based on the early adventures of Hans Solo.
Lucasfilm announced the casting earlier tody. “We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” said the film’s directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.” The film takes place before the original Star Wars trilogy and features much younger versions of beloved characters like Calrissian and Solo. Glover’s character first appeared in “The Empire Strikes Back” and was portrayed by Billiy Dee Williams who reprised the role in “Return of the Jedi,” the final film in the original trilogy.

The show has received rave reviews and portrays the life of an up and coming rapper in Atlanta, Georgia. Glover’s had real rap industry experience releasing two albums under his moniker Childish Gambino. His latest, “Because the Internet” was even nominated for a Grammy.
