Kanye West was hospitalized for a psychiatric evaluation on Monday evening, November 21.
West was initially brought in to seek medical attention for sleep deprivation but wound up being admitted under doctors orders, it was reported by TMZ. Authorities say that police were called to Kanye's residence at around 1:20 p.m. for a welfare check, but were unable to gain access to him at that time. Paramedics were also reported to have arrived at the scene and were eventually able to transport him to UCLA Medical Center despite his resistance.
News of his admittance comes only days after his meltdown during a Saint Pablo Tour concert in Sacramento, which led to a fall out involving the protest of angry fans, criticism from his peers in the Hip Hop industry, and Ticketmaster's decision to reward those in attendance with refunds after he barged out after performing three songs. It was a weekend to forget for West, who after proclaiming his support of Donald Trump, went off on another diatribe in which he accused MTV of colluding with Beyonce during the Video Music Awards, and again called out Jay-Z for not getting in touch with him. The blow-back from his statements would lead to a media firestorm that led to Ye canceling his remaining tour dates.
The story is developing.
