Early projections of the amount of people who were present at Saturday's [January 21] historic Women's March on Washington have reported that it is expected to break records as the largest post-inauguration protest in the nation's history.
People of all races, religions, and genders came out to support the Women's March, which was organized in response to the presidency of Donald Trump, whose behavior during the campaign and misogynistic statements made in the past helped mobilize women against him. The Associated Press released an estimate of around 500,000 demonstrators in D.C. alone. That number doesn't account for the droves who came out in a reported 667 locations around the world.
Chicago, Seattle, Boston, New York City, Denver, Los Angeles, and Phoenix were among the U.S. cities hosting rallies in solidarity with the march. Some outlets have estimated that between 2.5 and 3 million took to the streets globally.
