The mother of late Chicago rapper L'A Capone put the toughest chapter of her life to rest, when on Wednesday, February 22, she announced that the third and final suspect in the murder of her son has been convicted in the three and a half-year-old case.
Twenty-year-old Sakhee Hardy-Johnson has been found guilty in connection with the shooting, which he admitted to aiding by waiting in a parked car with plans to “run interference in the event that police officers arrived on scene,” in a statement he gave upon his arrest in 2014. Hardy-Johnson also admitted to having been in possession of a firearm he purchased for the scenario specifically.
Hardy-Johnson will join Meiko Buchanan and Michael Mays behind bars for killing Capone, who at the time of his death on was only 17. Having confessed to his involvement as the driver of the trail car, Buchanan was found guilty for his part in September and received a 45-year sentence. Hardy-Johnson's sentencing date has not yet been made public.
“@600boy_la Im so tired but I never gave up. I fought real hard to get that justice for you like I promised #3guiltyverdicts #justice4LA. You can rest and so can I,” Momma Capone wrote in the caption of a photo of L'A Capone on Instagram. Back in October she shared a similar post after learning that Mays had been found guilty. "Two down, One more to go," she wrote at the time.
Capone was shot down in an alley after leaving a session at South Shore studio in September of 2013. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where doctors attempted to save him from the blood lost from a shot to the lower back and thigh. He'd later succumb to his wounds, prompting investigators to seek out the three rival gang members for his murder.
