Legendary entertainer Ice-Cube has partnered with a group of investors to create a 3-on-3 summer basketball league featuring retired NBA players called BIG3. Today (March 15), Cube announced that the location would be held at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, New York. Cube said of the deal,
"Brooklyn has been on our radar since we started the BIG3. From the pickup courts to the pros, New York’s hoops history is unrivaled,” said Ice Cube today via press release. “Legends are born here, and kicking this thing off at the iconic Barclays Center could not be more fitting.”
Starting June 25th, the 3v3 games will be held in a different arena and a different city every weekend, with the league consisting of eight teams with five players each. Ice Cube says he modeled the idea based on a fan who got sick of seeing legendary players retire. Featuring former legends like Charles Oakley and Allen Iverson, it's hard to argue with Cube's logic.
