News recently broke that three men in Connecticut were accused of running a sex trafficking ring that exploited young with mental health issues. According to the FBI, 63-year-old Bruce Bemer and 71-year-old William Trefzger were arrested for the part of the ring that was located and ran out of Danbury, Connecticut. The ring did not stop there, though, as they ran into other surrounding cities. Another man named Robert King was previously arrested for promoting prostitution and witness tampering according to police reports.
Police said that the ring allegedly sent young men to wealthy clients in different cities for the sole purpose of sex for cash. They also noted that the ring may have been in effect for decades, despite an investigation recently being sparked in January 2016. Both Trefzger and Bemer were charged with patronizing a trafficked person and are currently being held on $500,000 bond. Despite arresting a few suspects, the investigation is set to continue as the police expect to arrest more suspects.
