A 23-year military veteran and Navy SEAL is being investigated by the force after learning that he has been moonlighting as a porn star for the past seven years.
Chief Special Warfare Officer Joseph John Schmidt III has made appearances in at least 29 adult films. Many of his reels involve him co-starring alongside his wife Jewels Jade, who is a popular actress in the porn industry. With such titles as “Apple Smashing Lap Dance” and “Strippers Come Home Horny From the Club," to his name [goes by "Jay Voom" on the screen], Schmidt might be recognizable to X-rated movie viewers. Jade has gone so far as to say that officials have known about his side gig, telling the San Diego Union-Tribune that “they knew about it at work. He got called in and they said, ‘Look, keep it on the low, don’t mention the SEAL name and blah, blah, blah.’”
But the SEALs would beg to differ, confirming through spokesperson Capt. Jason Salata that the military is looking into the matter, as it is a condition that anybody who remains active in the force seek approval for any additional employment. “We have initiated a formal investigation into these allegations. There are very clear regulations which govern outside employment by (Naval Special Warfare) personnel as well as prohibitions on behavior that is discrediting to the service,” said Capt. Salata to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
