Lavar Ball, the outspoken father of UCLA basketball star Lonzo Ball, generated a ton of controversy on Thursday (May 4) after his company, Big Baller Brand, unveiled his son's signature sneaker, the ZO2.

The 495 dollar pair of kicks, in a black and gold colorway, have been panned by sports blogs across the web for their outrageous price. Soon after the shoes debuted, Shaq took to Twitter to get at Lavar Ball for selling such an expensive sneaker.

"Hey @Lavarbigballer real big baller brands don't over charge kids for shoes," the NBA great wrote.

Despite all the backlash, the senior Ball is standing behind his son's signature shoe and defended the high price via Twitter.

"Big Baller's loose! If you can't afford the ZO2's, you're NOT a BIG BALLER!" he wrote Thursday evening.
