A Massachusetts judge has ruled to dismiss Aaron Hernandez's murder conviction. Hernandez, who was found hanged in his jail cell on April 19th, died a convicted murderer.

But on Tuesday Hernandez's conviction was dropped via a legal rule called "abatement ab initio," or abatement, which typically calls for convictions to be thrown out if a defendant dies before their appeal is heard.

At the time of his death, Hernandez was serving a life sentence for the murder of Odin Lloyd.

Hernandez's fiancee may also be eligible to acquire his lost NFL wages.
