BIG3 basketball was missing its biggest star in Dallas over the weekend and the league's officials are clueless as to why.
Allen Iverson didn't simply miss practice on Sunday, July 30; he was ghost for his Three's Company squad's Week 6 game vs the Power. Thanks to DerMarr Johnson stepping up to fill in coaching duties, they were still able to pick up a 53-49 win, but Ice Cube and other concerned parties have yet to learn what kept A.I. from showing up. They say they are in the process of handling the matter.
"We had no advance warning and do not have information as to all the circumstances surrounding his absence," a statement issued by the BIG3 said. "The league is launching an investigation to gather all the facts and then will make an informed, official statement."
Earlier this month Iverson let fans in Philadelphia down when he failed to give himself any playing-time in his return to the city he played his NBA career in. It was later learned that he was battling an ailment. Still, some feel as though the BIG3 has lost some appeal with its biggest name playing sparingly throughout its inaugural season. With his latest absence coming without a simple phone call, the question now becomes whether Iverson is ok, and if so, whether the reason behind his disappearing act could at all be personal.
The story is developing.
