As rising newcomer Lil Peep’s music career continues to gain traction, he decided to reveal his sexual identity on social media earlier this afternoon (Aug. 8).
With no obvious explanation or warning, the Long Beach, N.Y. rapper took to Twitter and told his fans, “yes I’m bisexual”. He followed that up by asking his follows, “who wants a kiss?”
Lil Peep’s digital coming out party continued on Instagram where he posted a picture of himself making a spinach smoothie. He added the caption, “Bi sexual smoothies with Lil Peep oh my god I'm gay as f*** but I still love girls wats going on who has cocaine I wana make music.”
The “Benz Truck” rapper reportedly battled depression and suicidal thoughts over the years, even while growing up in Long Beach. In an interview with XXL, he reveals that at one point he refused to leave the house for two months straight.
“I was very reclusive and depressed,” the 20-year-old Lil Peep explains. “I was in the house and just listening to Future and music and it took me out of my bedroom, metaphorically. It inspired me to try it myself. I can kind of write songs for people so I thought why don’t I write my own songs.”
All of this occurred while Lil Peep is gearing up to release his forthcoming debut album, Come Over When You’re Sober. It drops this Friday, Aug 11 and fans can pre-order the album right now on iTunes.
