Both President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania took to social media to call for peace amid the violence that broke out between white nationalists and anti-racist protesters in Charlottesville, VA on Saturday, August 12.

"We ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for. There is no place for this kind of violence in America. Lets come together as one!" Trump tweeted from Bedminster, NJ, where he was reportedly forced to break from an agenda filled with national security matters in order to address the atmosphere in the Mid-South.

The President's tweet came minutes after Melania called for cooler heads to prevail, tweeting, "Our country encourages freedom of speech, but let's communicate w/o hate in our hearts. No good comes from violence. #Charlottesville."
