Comedian Eric Andre called out the rap industry for turning a blind eye to violence and abuse against women on Friday, August 18. And he ticked off a few people along the way, as he called out fellow Floridians XXXTentacion and Kodak Black by name, as artists who are given promotion despite their histories of assault allegations against the opposite sex.

"I was just looking at World Star Hip Hop on my IG and they’re always promoting XXX and Kodak Black. And I got upset ... I was like, why can I complain about racism freely, but criticize a rapper's sexism and everyone gets butt hurt," Andre wrote in back to back tweets, before taking responsibility for having put his weight behind the music himself in the past. "I was also mad at myself for promoting XXXTentacion’s music the other day. my friend was like, “that dude beats up pregnant women," he wrote.

Andre would go on to tweet the link to an organization that advocates for abused women, after throwing racism, sexism, and homophobia in the same pot and asserting the belief that they all intersect to perpetuate a system "that keeps people subservient and disenfranchised." Andre pointed out that one of every three women are either beat, raped or murdered in their lifetime.

Kodak Black has been accused of raping a woman after a show in February of 2016. And a good internet search will produce court paperwork documenting that XXXTentacion strangled and assaulted a pregnant woman. After catching wind of Andre's rant, X responded with denial and a word of advice for what Andre ought to focus his energy doing for up and coming artists like him. "Because not everything you hear on the internet is true, you should be adult enough to know that and support the youth before degrading them," X replied.
