Trae tha truth is true to his Texas roots, always looking to give back to his community. Previously, the Houston native made news for giving away 75 college scholarships, leaving no one surprised when it was announced that he was rescuing people stranded by Hurricane Harvey via speed boat. Among those rescued was former San Antonio Spurs guard Jonathan Simmons. The NBA wing was quoted as saying,
“Trae tha Truth, the rapper, is from Houston and we know a mutual friend from San Antonio. They brought a boat to Houston because (Trae) had to evacuate as well... They came and got (Trae) and then he came and got us right away. Luckily, I had a friend in the area who could help us out."
Simmons had a breakout season during the playoffs last year for the Spurs, which helped him secure a contract with the Magic this offseason. I think it's safe to say that Jonathan Simmons can't wait to begin his new season in Orlando.
