The news came through the grapevine that The Lakers were putting a special event on December 18th for their home game against the World Champion Golden State Warriors. It's been confirmed that this event will be a jersey retirement ceremony for one of the greatest Lakers of all-time, Kobe Bryant.
After much speculation earlier today, ESPN's Ramona Shelbourne has now confirmed via Twitter that both #8 and #24 will be hung in the rafters at the Staples Center at the December 18th special event. This honor puts Kobe in unique company as no player has had two numbers retired by the same team in NBA history.
This will surely be a one of a kind ceremony for a one of a kind player. Kobe Bryant played in the NBA for 20 years all for the Los Angeles Lakers after a draft day trade from the Charlotte Hornets.
