Cardi B has been experiencing major success because of her single “Bodak Yellow,” which has been taking over airwaves as well as the Billboard charts. Because of that, she recently made an appearance on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club to discuss her recent strides. While speaking with Charlamagne, DJ Envy, and Angela Yee, Cardi was asked about the release date of her upcoming album, asking if it was still being released in October 2017. She went on to say “I wanted to drop next month.” However, she has been caught up in trying to top the impact of her hit single. She went on to say “Every single time I think I got all the 10 songs I’m like, I’m buggin’. These ain’t it. It’s just like, damn I’m competing with myself. I’m competing with the No. 2 record [on Billboard] and stuff.” She noted that because of the pressure she’s been putting on herself, she is pushing back the release of her album.
Since then, J. Cole has chimed in with his thoughts on Cardi B and her album creation process, The rapper took to Twitter to deliver advice to the Bronx rapper, saying “Also Cardi B I seen your breakfast club interview, loved it. Don’t put all that pressure on your album. You already won. Just drop & repeat.” Cardi saw Cole’s tweet and responded by saying “Is this real :’) Son my heart is smiling... Well, who am I not to take J Cole advice.”
