The story of O.J. is about to begin a new chapter. According to CBS Las Vegas, O.J. Simpson could be a free man as early as Monday, October 2.
As part of a plan in organized by the state, Nevada prison officials say he'd be taken from Lovelock Correctional Center to High Desert State Prison ahead of his possible October 2nd release. Officials say that process is still being approved and documents still need to be signed in order to make it official.
Back in July, state parole board members agreed on an October 1st release date for the 70-year-old, which is a Sunday. In Nevada, inmates are only released on weekdays, making the second the first business day he could be freed.
Simpson has been behind bars since 2008 for armed robbery and kidnapping. This was after an argument over some of his old sports memorabilia with two dealers at a hotel in Vegas. A friend of the former NFL player and actor, Tom Scotto, says he is letting Simpson stay with him in Naples, Florida. That would require an agreement to be reached between both Nevada and Florida officials, which, according to NBC News, still needs to happen. A spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Corrections says they haven't received any transfer paperwork from Nevada officials as of yet.
