It appears John Salley believes Lavar Ball made a genius decision when he announced he was taking his son Lamelo out of high school to homeschool him.
During an interview with TMZ on Wednesday, October 4, Salley explained that the decision for Lavar to pull his son from the Chino Hills High School was brilliant because many great individuals have participated in homeschooling.
"Smartest move in the world," Salley said after being asked on the subject. "I think Lavar needs his own show. He's the smartest guy in the world." While Salley was unaware of the Ball's reality show on Facebook, he went on to tell the media outlet the famous list of homeschoolers now including Lamelo.
"Brooke Shields was homeschooled, smart as hell. Smartest people in the world are homeschooled. Dalai Lama was homeschooled" Salley said. "Right if not, you get shot in school, you gotta get picked on, you gotta worry about clothes. You not focused."
Salley believes the goal now for Lavar is to develop the "great athlete" within Lamelo. However, Salley thinks the controversy sparked by Lavar's decision is only vilified in the media because of the figure Lavar's become, citing children who turned professional in sports like tennis. "Boris Becker, 16 years old at Wimbledon. Nobody said jack, but Lavar sees it and says 'these three right here are gonna be pros.' He's always a good coach, always won, smartest guy in the business."
