The amount of woman who've thus far come out against beleaguered television and film producer Harvey Weinstein with allegations of sexual misconduct, harassment, assault or rape expanded to include a 50th woman on Monday, October 23.
Among the latest alleged victims is a 38-year-old actress by the name of Heather Kerr. Famed attorney Gloria Allred announced that Kerr had sought her legal counsel concerning a hotel-room rape that she claims she was a victim of at the hands of Weinstein in 2013. The claim is being investigated by the LAPD, as authorities look into five accusations that currently came to the attention of London police. One of the accusers has revealed herself to be Weinstein's former London assistant Zelda Perkins, who is coming forward, has broken a two-decade-old non-disclosure agreement.
Meanwhile, Weinstein has come under the scrutiny of public officials in New York, where the attorney general has informed the press that he is opening a civil rights investigation into the practices of The Weinstein Co. The A.G.'s Civil Rights Bureau has reportedly distributed subpoenas seeking documentation that will show how sexual harassment complaints that may have come to the attention of executives, were handled by the company. The announcement serves as just the latest blow to Weinstein's legacy. Last week it was announced that he was being taken off of the board of The Weinstein Co. and more recently, that his name would be eliminated from the credits attributing work to him in television productions.
