Just one week before Lil Peep's death by apparent drug overdose, Wiz Khalifa had taken to his social media to give a PSA about the trend of hard drug use that has come over the culture. "Know, lean is definitely lame," Wiz professed to his followers.
Today, the rapper who is a well-known weed smoker, stopped by Complex to talk about his latest mixtape Laugh Now, Fly Later and Jinx asked him about his statements on hard drug use with relation to the passing of the 21-year-old.
"I just feel somebody has to speak up for people who don't believe in that or are tired of seeing that. It's unfortunate that Lil Peep had to die and stuff like that, but these are the things people are going to start seeing keep happening," warned Wiz. "I was just trying to be the responsible one and say something."
With this day also being the anniversary of DJ Screw, who died 17 years ago of a codeine overdose, Wiz says he gives his friends who sip lean the same stern advice, especially after being at ComplexCon and seeing a wide array of people with white cups. "That s**t is wack bro. It's really time to crossover and sit it down," he reverberates.
