Recently, Donald Trump spoke on LaVar Ball, going as far as calling Ball “a poor man’s version of Don King, but without the hair.” Since then, Trump has shifted his focus to the NFL and a new idea the league recently presented. It was previously reported by the Washington Post that the NFL could change the national anthem policy if owners and players continue their protest. The policy could find the league making players stay in the locker room while the anthem is played.
Trump took to Twitter to express his views, saying “The NFL is now thinking about a new idea - keeping teams in the Locker Room during the National Anthem next season.” He continued, “That’s almost as bad as kneeling! When will the highly paid Commissioner finally get tough and smart? This issue is killing your league!…”
In the past, NFL players did not stand on the sideline for the national anthem until the policy was changed in 2009.
