Meek Mill is still giving out turkeys in his community this Thanksgiving despite being in jail.

The rapper who was recently sentenced to 2-4 years for violating his probation has handed over the responsibility of distributing food to his friends and family members. The annual DreamChaser’s Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway will be held in several locations throughout Philadelphia according to the rapper’s Twitter account.

The drive started back in 2013 and has been a way for Meek and his team to reach back into the community that raised him. “I’m blessed to be in a position where I can make sure that as many people as possible have a meal on Thanksgiving so that they can be with their loved ones to enjoy the holiday,” said Meek Mill in a previous statement. He’s currently serving out his time at the State Correctional Institution in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Colin Kaepernick recently spoke to Meek and gave an update on his status. “Spoke to Meek Mill & he wanted ppl to know regardless of his unjust situation, he’s in good spirits & humbled by the support people have shown him,” tweeted Kaepernick earlier this week. “We’ll continue to fight against the harsh sentencing practices that have affected Meek & millions of other POC for generations.”
