Update 03/23/2019 12:35pm:

Previously, it was reported that a police officer named Michael Rosfeld was charged with the murder of 17-year-old Antwon Rose, Jr. The police officer reportedly shot the young man in the back as after he tried to flee the scene after being pulled over.

Now, reports surfaced noting the trial for Michael Rosfeld is over after a jury found him not guilty on all charges related to the shooting of Antwon Rose, Jr. Rosfeld took to the stand and spoke on the incident, noting that he believed the victim had a gun. He said “I'm not going to wait to be attacked. I meant to fire until the threat against me had been ended, whether it be if I missed and he surrenders, stops, gets on the ground. I just wanted to end the threat to me."

The lawyer for the family of Rose says they plan on fighting the ruling, saying “It will have to be challenged in the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. It will have to continue to be challenged on a federal level.”

Original 06/27/2018 10:21pm:

30-year-old Officer Michael Rosfeld, the officer that shot and killed 17-year-old Antwon Rose last week, was charged with the teen's murder on Wednesday (June 27). Surveillance video of the drive-by shooting that led to Rosfeld pulling over a car that Rose was in shows that the teen was not the shooter in the incident.

Pennsylvania's Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala called Rosfeld's actions "an intentional act, and it was done recklessly, and there is no justification for it." He added that Rose didn't pose a threat as he ran from the vehicle, stating, "Rose shows his hands, turns and runs. He is not in possession of a weapon."

Following the incident, Rosfeld was inconsistent about why he fired at the teen. He first said that he saw something black that looked like a gun, and then he said he didn't see a gun, and the third time, Rosfeld said he was unsure.

Rosfeld has since posted bail, but his currently on house arrest.
