Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, also known as The Neptunes have now been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The duo’s induction reportedly featured appearances from Usher, who worked closely with the pair on his ‘8701’ album.

The Neptunes produced countless amounts of hit records for artists like Snoop Dogg, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, The Clipse, Beenie Man, Nelly, Jay-Z, and more over the years.

While on the red carpet for the event, Pharrell spoke about the ceremony, saying “It’s a huge honor. You’ve heard that all night on this carpet, it really is. The immense sense of gratitude that I feel is probably taking over everything in terms of like the being in it-ness.” The producer then noted how in-awe he was at seeing other musical artists who he’s a fan of. “I’m failing at that because I always have delayed reactions, so 2-3 days from now I’ll be like whoa I was really in the room with like the Eurythmics and Ronald Isley. It’ll probably hit me by then but right now it’s kinda like oh wow.” Chad Hugo noted the inspiration for the duo and their sound actually came from science fiction, and the love they both have for it, citing Star Trek among other shows, and films as inspiration.
