According to reports, a 17-year-old in the U.K. was arrested after being pinpointed as the alleged person responsible for the security breach that resulted in the leak of Rockstar Games' ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ title. The arrested went down this past Thursday (September 22) in Oxfordshire. The hacker was arrested on suspicion of hacking. 

Reports noted the group the hacker is tied to—“Laspus$,” who also were involved in breaches at other companies like Samsung, Microsoft, Cisco, and more. The arrest was made as part of the U.K.’s Cyber Crime Unit by the London City Police. The cops didn’t confirm that the arrest of the 17-year-old was related to the Rockstar Games breach, but a source confirmed the incident to the outlet, The Desk.

Recently, news surfaced noting a massive leak took place related to Rockstar Games’ ‘Grand Theft Auto VI,’ which is set to feature a female protagonist. Now, Rockstar has confirmed the release and spoken on the matter. 

The company posted a message via Twitter, saying, “We recently suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto. At this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to our live game services nor any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects.”

Rockstar said they are disappointed at the leak and that the work on the game will move forward as planned. Take a look above.
