The NBA has fined New York Knicks power forward Amar'e Stoudemire $50,000 for using a gay slur in regards to a Twitter follower.

Stu Jackson, League Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations, stated that Stoudemire's language was "offensive and derogatory". He announced the fine in a press release on Tuesday.

Stoudemire later apologized for his comment after saying he had time to think it over while on a flight.

Do you feel the $50,000 fine is just or excessive?
