An imprisoned Nashville man made a death bed confession recently, admitting to a 1995 murder as he suffered from a heart attack. The only problem for James Washington is that he didn't die.

Washington revealed his responsibility for the death of Joyce Goodener, thinking he wouldn't live to face the consequences. After surviving his attack, Washington tried to take back the confession of his fatal beating, but it was too late. A prison guard relayed the confession to a jury saying, "He kind of got as best as he could, motioned, and said, 'I have something to tell you. I have to get something off my conscience and you need to hear this.' He said, 'I killed somebody. I beat her to death."

Washington now faces a life sentence.
