For some strange and tragic reason which has only been described by Local 10 news in Miami as "natural causes," 27-year-old Arena League football player Chandler Wiliams suddenly died on Saturday, January 5th, while playing in a flag football tournament in South Florida.

The league did not initially release the cause of death, and the public is still waiting to see if any further details will come forth that sheds more light on why he passed away.

Wiliams was a student at Florida International University and got drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2007, and played in NFL preseason games over four seasons but was never granted the opportunity to play in a regular season game.  He played for the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League in the 2012 season.

Tampa Bay Storm team president Derrick Brooks posted a statement on the AFL's website regarding Wiliams' death.

"We are shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of Chandler.  Our heart and prayers go out to his fiancée Vanitia Harrigan, daughter Tori Williams and the rest of his family."
