Miriam Carey, the 34-year-old mother shot near the U.S. Capitol on Thursday, reportedly thought President Obama was stalking her, according to NBC News. On Thursday, Carey led police on a wild 12-block police chase through Washington while her one-year-old daughter was strapped in the car. She plowed her leased Infiniti through two police cars before crashing into barricades, where police shot her dead.

Carey reportedly suffered from postpartum depression, but a neighbor revealed that she never saw any hostility.

Erin Jackson told the NY Post, "I never observed that there was anything going on mentally with her. ... I never observed her say anything politically. The only time I saw her emote negatively was when her tires were stolen this summer. I was walking out, going to work, and she said, 'Can you believe what they did? They took my tires.'"

The married mother of one reportedly lost her job as a dental hygienist last year after patients complained that she was too rough. She was subsequently sued by the condo association where she lived for unpaid fees, according to the New Haven Register. The matter was settled on Feb. 1.
