Kobe Bryant's achilles injury has really shaken things up in LA. With Jobe finally admitting some doubt about his playing ability, and Kobe's contract nearing its end, the long-time relationship might have to end next summer. Executive vice president of player personnel Jim Buss says the Lakers will allow Kobe to become a free agent in 2014.

Because of the NBA pay structure, the Lakers want to let Kobe go, upgrade with an elite player, then use the money left over to sign bryant. But, that's all circumspect as of now.

"We've probably talked," says Kobe about speaking to Jim Buss, "but I'm putting off any thought of that."
