Ron Artest ... eh, Metta World Peace, is one of the most unique basketball players around. Everyone was left feeling utterly stunned when he initially changed his name to "Metta World Peace," but now his latest name change will shock you even more.
Since joining the Sichuan Blue Whales of the Chinese Basketball Association for the upcoming season, Metta World Peace decided to change his name to one more fitting of the Sichuan culture. Instead of being referred to as Ci Siping, which is the Chinese translation for Metta World Peace, he will now be known as "The Panda's Friend."
Ron announced the news on Twitter, despite previous reports that his name was changed to "Panda Friend." The name change will most likely last as long as Metta, and The Panda's Friend may remain in China, which is scheduled to be a 4-month stay. Since the announcement, fans on Twitter have been unloading a mix of reactions to his name change.
