Lil B and several others are safe thanks to one smart teenager after he saved his family and the rapper from an apartment fire in the Bay Area.

According to Complex, the incident happened early Thursday morning. 15-year-old Mateo Ysmael, who lives in the two-story duplex says he smelled the smoke and pulled his family out of the apartment. Before leaving he also knocked on his neighbor's door who happened to be Lil B.

"I just ran and got my stepmom, and told her I thought the place was on fire," he said. "Then I went and got my little brother and my two sisters. We got out of there quick. Then I pounded my neighbor's door."

The Cali rapper spoke to reporters about the teen's bravery in the two- alarm fire.

"I'm grateful to be alive," he said. "If that kid didn't come knocking on my door ...I've got to thank the Contra Costa Fire folks for doing such an amazing job keeping it contained. They were extraordinary. It could've been so much worse than it was. Like I said, I'm grateful to be alive." Lil B says he lost a few of his clothing items and music in the fire, but was happy to be safe. There were no major injuries reported at the fire besides a firefighter who was hit with a tile while trying to take on the fire.

Lil B posted videos and photos from the incident and is taking donations to help rebuild his home studio.
