When art imitates life, huh? Taking a page—or in this case a scene—from notorious movies like "The Town" and "Dead Presidents," well, some real life thieves pulled off a hefty jack move like no other.

Although those flicks heavily focused on robbing wads of cash from banks, these nifty crooks were all about the gold. Shortly after dusk on Interstate 95, three armed robbers hijacked an armored truck, tying up two guards and disappearing with approximately 275 gold bars – which were reportedly estimated at $4.8 million.

According to ABC News (as reported to Wilson County Sheriff's Office), the guards, who were working for Transvalue Inc. of Miami, pulled off to the side of the Interstate around 6:30pm on Sunday and after the vehicle began having some mechanical issues in eastern North Carolina, they were then held up by three armed men. The three men, who were driving in a white van, then told the guards to lie on the ground, as they tied their hands behind their backs and then led them to some nearby woods.

The robbers then unloaded several barrels from the back of the truck, which were said to be filled with the $4.8 million worth of gold, before making their clean getaway into the night.

Transvalue chief executor, Jay Rodriguez, said that none of the employees were seriously injured during the heist. The load was reportedly headed to Attleboro, Massachusetts, which is ironically deemed as "Jewelry City" for the large number of manufacturers based there.

"At this time we are working with the authorities to try and resolve this matter," Rodrigez said. "We are offering a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of these criminals."

Currently, there isn't much detail regarding the suspects and it isn't clear as to what weapons they particularly used in the robbery, or how they managed to get the truck to pry open. We think it might be the time to check if Goldmember had anything to do with this crime, though.
