Taraji P. Henson released a public apology for accusing a Glendale police officer of racially profiling her son, Marcel Johnson, and admitted that she overreacted without gathering all of the facts about the situation.

Her apology was made not long after a 40-minute dash cam video of the arrest was made public, showing the officer being cooperative and calm during their interaction. The officer also helped Taraji's son get out of a more damaging traffic violation of driving through a lit crosswalk while someone was walking through, and just cited the 20-year-old with possession of marijuana.

The officer can be heard telling Johnson, "I am not going to give you a citation for running that yellow because that would actually put a moving violation on your driving license, and you are going to have to go to traffic school and all that stuff, so I am helping you by not giving you a violation on it. All I am going to do is take the weed from you."

Johnson was told that he could show proof of his medical marijuana card and likely pay a fine.

Glendale Police Chief Robert Castro made a statement about the situation after reviewing the dash cam footage and determined that "The contact and actions with Marcel Johnson were legal, professional and empathetic."
