Back in 2012, Young Buck was sentenced to 18 months in prison on weapon charges, a sentence that he began in August 2012. It was reported that until then Buck had remained at his Nashville home on house arrest with a monitoring bracelet strapped around his ankle. He served his 18 months in prison and was released on October 1, 2013. Buck had remained relatively silent but he recently called in to DJ Whoo Kid's radio show to discuss a few things including his prison sentence, a G-Unit reunion, and who he listened to while in the penitentiary.

Young Buck spoke on how his old rap friends didn't reach out to him while in prison. "I spoke to 2 Chainz a lot," he says. "That's my brother. I got a lot of respect 2 Chainz, man. He always checked in and made sure I was 100. Of course Drumma Boy, man, that's my brother from another mother. For the most part, those were the main two guys. I didn't really hear from nobody. I used to be tuned in when some of these muthaf**kas would come across 106 & Park, like, 'God Damn it I know this ni**a don't be hollering out, "Free Buck" or anything...I don't know if they forgot about me or if I wasn't on they mind at the time, but I just didn't get that call from a lot of rappers."

While locked up Young Buck says he listened to Kendrick Lamar's latest album a lot. "I listened to Kendrick Lamar's album daily in the penitentiary," Young Buck said. "I'm a fan of Kendrick Lamar. I think he's a real dude. I think he's bringing that real sh*t to the game for us, from a lyrical side. He's not just focused on one type of thing, you know, Kendrick will bounce from here, and bounce from there and bounce over here, but at the same time remain being who Kendrick is. That's what you don't get out of a lot of artists. A lot of artists that want to be this, or be that, nah, Kendrick is being himself and he a real ni**a...And at some point in time I would want to work with Kendrick because, I got a lot of respect for his music and sh*t."

But perhaps the topic of most interest was a potential G-Unit reunion that has been rumored for a while now. "This is not a G-Unit reunion," Young Buck told DJ Whoo Kid. "This is not me signing with G-Unit or nothing like that, it's just a real situation. Real dudes just doing real things. I haven't even spoke with 50 in years. Like I say man, I wish them all the best, you know what I'm saying. I don't got no ill will with me, or none of that shit with me. I was taught from the very beginning, you can forgive but don't forget. So, any individual that had any kind of negativity that came with them or done anything dealing with Buck that was taken as a negative way, I forgive them but I don't forget."
