In this throwback clip from 92.3 The Beat's DJ Julio G, Q-Tip discusses moving from Jive Records to Arista Records. Although A Tribe Called Quest released their seminal "The Low End Theory" under Jive, Q-Tip feels the label is "wack," and "they suck."

The Queens rapper goes on to detail the big difference being under Arista Records. "We with Clive Davis, and Clive's whole aesthetic is, he looks at it like he's an artist, which is cool, and he's in the business of promoting the star and making the star's quality shine."

Q-Tip then proceeds to explain the problem he had with Jive. "They was cheap, and they always followed a formula."
