DJ Vlad sat down with Jack Thriller from This is 50 to talk about the success of VladTV, his views on hip hop, and what Busta Rhymes taught him about strong work ethic.

When asked if racism exists in Hip Hop, Vlad says that artists need to have respect within the culture becasue of it's beginnings.

"I think I consider hip hop a black art form," he said. "Lord Jamar said 'I feel that if you're not black you should address yourself as a guest in the house of hip hop.' There's a place for other races, but I think that you have to be respectful to the people that made it. I've been in hip hop for 30 years, so I've seen it when it was born to where it is now, and I try to bring that perspective."

Vlad also shared the work ethic he learned from Busta Rhymes.

"Me and Busta Rhymes spent a week together and I interviewed him," he said. "He was telling me about how the last ten years he's been going to the studio every night and after the studio he goes to the club every night, and seeing someone with that type of work ethic inspired me to step up and work a lot harder."
