Big Daddy Kane reflected on his Hip Hop roots beginning as a Battle Rapper in this clip from his exclusive interview with VladTV Battle Rap Journalist Michael Hughes.

Kane recalled battling at a young age back in the early 1980's, and how he once challenged Kool Moe Dee to battle.  The challenge came while Kane was attending Park West High School back in 1983, following Kool Moe Dee's battle vs. Busy Bee. According to Kane, Kool Moe Dee refused to accept his challenge because at the time, Kool Moe Dee didn't think that Kane was at his level.

Kane later revealed how he wound up getting a label deal after battling Biz Markie. Apparently Kane beat Biz, and the two of them began working together following their respectfully competitive lyrical match.
